Rich Brown Steak Dinner Recipe


2 lb. round steak, 1-in. thick, cut into serving pieces
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
Flour
6 med. onions, sliced
1 c. shortening or fat
3 lge. potatoes, halved
1 bay leaf
1 can condensed tomato soup
1 pkg. frozen French-cut green beans

Season meat with salt and pepper; roll in flour. Cook onions in hot fat until tender, but not brown; remove. Brown meat slowly on both sides; place in 3-quart casserole. Add onions, potatoes and bay leaf; pour soup over mixture. Bake, covered, at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 45 minutes, or until meat is tender. Add beans; cook for 10 to 15 minutes longer. Yield: 6-8 servings.
