Lemon Nutmeg Sauce Recipe


1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon nutmeg
Grated rind of 2 lemons
2 cups water
3 tablespoons fresh or bottled lemon juice
2 tablespoons butter or margarine

Combine sugar, cornstarch, nutmeg, and lemon rind in a saucepan. Add water; stir and cook until thickened and clear. Remove from heat; add lemon juice and butter; stir until butter is melted. Serve hot or cold on puddings or cakes. Yield: 2 cups.
