Angel Food With Cocoa Whipped Cream Recipe


1 package (1 lb) angel food cake mix
1/2 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
2 teaspoons cold water
1 cup whipping cream
1/4 cup instant cocoa mix
Salted nuts (optional)

Prepare angel food according to directions on package or according to recipe for Heavenly Cocoa Angel Food. Cool.

Soak gelatin in cold water; dissolve over hot water; cool, but don't let it get firm. (If it does, reheat.)

Whip cream until stiff; add cocoa mix and gelatin. Pile into serving dish. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Place salted nuts in a second serving dish.

Arrange slices of cake on a large flat plate or tray In the center, place the two serving dishes of cocoa whipped cream and nuts so guests can help themselves to both. Yield: 12 to 16 servings.
